Privacy policy
The important part in one line: when you request a quote, we pass your contact details to up to three independent blind fitters so they can quote you. That is the whole purpose of the site, and nothing else is done with your details.
Who we are
Irish Blinds operates https://irishblinds.ie. We are the data controller for the information described here. Contact us at hello@irishblinds.ie or 01 234 5678.
What we collect
When you submit the quote form or contact form, we collect: your name, email address, phone number, county, town or area, the number of windows, the blind types you're interested in, property type, timeline, preferred contact time, and anything you write in the message box. We also record the time of submission and the IP address the form was sent from, which we use only to detect spam.
We do not ask for and do not want payment card details, PPS numbers, or any special category data such as health information. Please don't put anything of that kind in the message box.
Why we collect it, and our legal basis
- To get you quotes. Legal basis: your consent, given by ticking the box on the form. This is the main purpose.
- To send you a confirmation email with your reference number. Legal basis: consent.
- To prevent spam and abuse of our forms. Legal basis: legitimate interests in keeping the service working.
- To keep basic records of enquiries in case of a dispute. Legal basis: legitimate interests.
Who we share it with
This is the part that matters most, so it's stated plainly.
We share your enquiry with a maximum of three independent blind fitters who cover your county. They receive your name, contact details, location and the details of the job. They contact you directly. Each of those fitters is a separate data controller for what they do with your details after that, and each is required to have their own privacy policy and to handle your data lawfully.
We do not sell your data. We do not pass it to marketing lists, data brokers, insurers, energy companies, or anyone outside the three fitters quoting your job.
We also use service providers who process data on our behalf: our web hosting provider, our email delivery provider, and Google (for the reCAPTCHA anti-spam check and, if you accept analytics cookies, for website analytics). These act on our instructions.
How long we keep it
- Quote enquiries: 24 months from submission, then deleted. This covers the typical warranty and dispute window on a fitted installation.
- General contact messages: 12 months.
- Spam-prevention logs including IP addresses: 90 days.
- Anything you ask us to delete: removed as described below, sooner than the periods above.
Your rights
Under the GDPR and the Irish Data Protection Act 2018 you have the right to:
- Ask what data we hold about you and get a copy of it.
- Have inaccurate data corrected.
- Have your data erased.
- Restrict or object to how we use it.
- Receive your data in a portable format.
- Withdraw consent at any time. Withdrawing consent doesn't undo sharing that has already happened, but it stops anything further.
To exercise any of these, email hello@irishblinds.ie. We'll respond within one month. There's no charge.
Note that if you want a fitter to stop contacting you, telling them directly is the fastest route, since they hold their own copy of your details. Tell us as well and we'll follow it up.
Complaints
If you're unhappy with how we've handled your data, please tell us first so we can put it right. You also have the right to complain to the Irish Data Protection Commission at dataprotection.ie.
Transfers outside the EEA
Our hosting and email are within the EEA. Google's reCAPTCHA and analytics services may process data outside the EEA under the European Commission's standard contractual clauses and the EU–US Data Privacy Framework.
Children
This site is aimed at adults arranging work on their homes. We don't knowingly collect data from anyone under 16.
Security
The site is served over HTTPS. Enquiry data is held on access-restricted systems and passed to fitters over secure channels. No system is perfect, but we take reasonable technical and organisational measures appropriate to the sensitivity of the data, which here is contact details rather than financial or health information.
Changes
If we change this policy we'll update the date below. Material changes to how we share data will be flagged on the quote form itself.
